There are a few main types of ceramic fiber textiles:
Blankets/Felts
Loose mats of tangled ceramic fibers formed into flexible blankets or rolls. Commonly used for basic insulation and gasketing.
Modules/Blocks
Compressed blankets formed into rigid modular shapes with tighter density. Often used where structural integrity is needed.
Papers/Tapes
Thin mats of ceramic fibers sheeted into paper-like flexible materials. Used as light gasketing or joint seals.
Cloths/Fabrics
Ceramic fibers woven or knitted into flexible cloth-like barriers. Used as lightweight insulating barriers.
Ropes/Braids
Fibers twisted or braided into cord-like flexible structures. Used as high temperature gasketing or packing materials.
Vessel/Board Wraps
Multilayer blankets or fibrous boards formed into rigid or flexible wraps to insulate complex shapes.
Tiles/Shapes
Ceramic fiber molded or machined into rigid shapes like tiles, bricks or custom insulation forms.
Common compositions include aluminosilicate, aluminoborosilicate, zirconia, blend fibers. Properties vary by density, thermal index, temperature capability for intended insulation vs gasketing use. Selection depends on specific application needs.
